Everything you ever wanted to know about moxa

This two day course is predominantly practical and will teach you the clinical application of moxa from rice grain to a hand-made moxa ball.
The aims and objectives of the course are to:
- Understand the Sawada style method and application of moxibustion
- Be able to structure a moxibustion treatment
- Be able to roll different types of moxa according to different conditions
- To know when to use moxa for deficiency, excess and cold conditions
Day One: Introduction to rice grain moxa, particularly the Sawada style root treatment; its application to health maintenance, promotion of immunity and its adaptation to a range of clinical conditions. By the end of the day you will have given and received a full treatment.
Day Two: Structure of moxa treatments - combined with acupuncture and moxa only. Adapting rice grain moxa and moxa cones to tonify, warm, drain and clear heat. You will be shown how to roll different kinds of cones and moxa balls, how to regulate heat and will have practiced the different techniques on yourself and a partner. By the end of two days, you will be able to use different moxa in your clinic.
Sia (Snow) Wang grew up in China and studied acupuncture and herbal medicines with some highly respected Chinese medicine doctors. She also studied in Japan and the UK. She runs a multi-disciplinary clinic in Croydon, Surrey. Since 2006, after an apprentice study in Japan, Snow committed herself to offering students clinical observations. This hands-on clinical practice workshop has developed from having many students study in her clinic.
