Event description

peter_firebrace.jpgExplore the concept of Luo – a link or connection – with Peter Firebrace at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading.

The concept of Luo – a link or connection – is fundamental to Chinese medicine, particularly within the Jing Luo meridian network, connecting two coupled meridians or a meridian with an organ or area, or filling the space between the surface and the depths of the body.
Without the Luo, we would be disconnected. The Luo points have their own pathways and pathology. Many are indicated in emotional disorders and they are also paired with the Yuan Source points of the coupled meridian for a particular set of symptoms.
These points will be studied from the Chinese medical classics, particularly the Lingshu, Jiayijing and Zhenjiu Dacheng.
The 15 Luo points are Lu 7 Lie que, LI 6 Pian Li, St 40 Feng Long, Sp 4 Gong Sun, Ht 5 Tong Li, SI 7 Zhi Zheng, Bl 58 Fei Yang, Kid 4 Da Zhong, P 6 Nei Guan, TH 5 Wai Guan, GB 37 Guang Ming, Liv 5 Li Gou, Sp 21 Da Bao, Du 1 Chang Qiang, Ren 15 Jiu Wei.
A summary of each of these powerful and important points will be presented, including an analysis of the point name from the Chinese characters, its functions, key symptoms and common combinations, together with an example of its clinical use.

Peter Firebrace BAc MBAcC studied acupuncture at the International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM) in England, the European School of Acupuncture in France and the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Chengdu, China.
