Clinical study trip to Guangzhou, China Autumn 2008

Tony Booker led a successful three-week trip for practitioners of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine which included two weeks’ clinical experience in one of China’s most modern hospitals where participants had the opportunity to treat patients under the watchful eye of senior TCM doctors, and lectures from hospital staff.

We intend to run another in autumn 2009

rahda_thambirajah.jpgFocusing on the yin, yang, Blood and qi states of the reproductive system, with Radha Thambirajah at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading.

This course is about the yin, yang, Blood and qi states of the reproductive system. It will also focus on the relationship between the Organs of the Five Elements and the Kidneys and Bladder, and the treatment of any imbalanced states. These will include:

Menstruation-related problems Short and long menstrual cycles, excess or scanty bleeding, spotting between or at end of menstrual bleeding, irregular menstruation, painful menstruation, amenorrhea, menstruation-related headaches, pre-menstrual tension
>  Ovarian cysts
>  Fibroids
>  Endometriosis
>  Breast cysts
>  Peri-and post-menopausal symptoms
>  Infertility
>  Habitual miscarriage
>  Erectile dysfunction and low libido in men
>  Male infertility
>  Prostatic hypertrophy
>  Chronic prostatitis
Pregnancy related problems Vomiting, carpal tunnel syndrome, water retention and oedema, high blood pressure, post-natal problems, lactation problems, mastitis, post-natal depression.

There will be detailed discussion about the above conditions and their treatment with acupuncture, diet and life style changes.

 

Radha Thambirajah graduated from Shanghai Medical College in 1970 where she specialised in acupuncture. After her internship in China she returned to Sri Lanka and established her practice. In 1980 she founded the Academy of Chinese Acupuncture, training doctors and health professionals from all over the world. In 1984 she moved to England, opening the Academy in Berlin with a branch in Barcelona. To date, the Academy has trained over 8,000 students worldwide. Radha practises in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands. Her books, Energetics in Acupuncture (2005) and Cosmetic Acupuncture and Dermatological Diseases (2007) are also available in German. She has taught acupuncture in Europe for over 20 years and follows the Chinese style of teaching using hands-on methods and providing lots of practice. Courses are lively and interactive. She believes learning acupuncture should be fun and enjoyable and create confidence in the learner.
