This course offers a rare opportunity to develop advanced skills in pulse diagnosis – the key to Chinese medicine. The Shen-Hammer system provides clear information about both constitution and current pathology, including the specific effects of past injuries, traumas, illnesses, life events and emotions. It can also be used to predict future pathology before it becomes manifest, offering the possibility for truly preventative medicine. Applying this system will transform your practice and have a profound impact on your relationship with your patients. The structure of this three-part trainingParts 1 and 2 (three days each) The three depths and the six principal and 22 complementary positions are introduced and explained. Also individual pulse qualities, some of which are unique to this system. Part 3 (four days) Students work directly with selected patients. Scott will first prepare a comprehensive pulse work-up on each patient, then students, in pairs, will have 45 minutes to try to feel what he felt and recorded. This is the only way the pulse can be taught effectively, with direct explanation and feedback about exactly what you are feeling with your fingers. Scott will be available for questions and clarification. In the afternoons, using only the information provided by the pulse, a detailed diagnosis for each patient will be presented. We will then hear the history and current symptoms and integrate this with what the pulse revealed.
To enable direct supervision from this experienced instructor, class size will be limited.
