Day has treated cerebral disorders in Chinese state hospitals and in his private practice using scalp acupuncture. He will share his personal experiences and current research knowledge about its effective use. Scalp acupuncture or head acupuncture combines traditional acupuncture techniques with conventional medical knowledge about the representative areas of the cerebral cortex. It is widely used in Chinese hospitals for treating a variety of motor and sensory disorders including stroke, hemiplegia, paralysis and palsy. This seminar will look into how to integrate scalp acupuncture in your practice. Treatment techniques including point location, needling, types of needles used and using electro-acupuncture will be examined. Research and evidenceDay’s seminar will answer these questions:
Day Post is the assistant coordinator of ARRC (The Acupuncture Research Resource Centre) and a member of the BAcC marketing committee. He is in his tenth year of private practice, also working in London at Queen’s Club and Roehampton Club. For over four years he lived and trained in Asia. He studied zen keiraku shiatsu at the Iokai Shiatsu Centre, in Tokyo, Japan and then spent a year at Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in China. He then graduated from this College. He studied the first degree of the usui shiki ryoho reiki. He has been practising yoga for sixteen years, meditates and practises tai chi. Day has completed postgraduate study in the fields of infertility, depression, gynaecological disorders, musculo-skeletal injuries and Japanese acupuncture.
