Event description
An opportunity to attend a one-day 'oral tradition' seminar with Angela Hicks and John Hicks at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading.
The 'oral tradition'
Through personal accounts given by participants during previous seminars we have discovered much about how each of us manifests our constitutional Element. For almost all participants, the response has been powerful and the experience rewarding.
The focus for this seminar will be:
- our typical CF (constitutional factor) behaviour patterns
- how our CF manifests in body, mind and spirit.
Practitioners using the CF
To arrive at the CF, practitioners do not just use colour, sound, emotion and odour. Our constitutional weakness also manifests in our core beliefs, values and fundamental attitudes to life. When we talk about these, we give strong pointers to our CF. At this seminar we will hear people with the same CF talking about what really matters to them. We will discuss those tantalising CF paradoxes – ‘I know it sounds odd to you, but...?’.
These insights, coming ‘straight from the horse’s mouth’, give us deep understanding of our own and others’ CFs. The purpose of this seminar is to accumulate more of these insights.
Clarifying CFs
The 'oral tradition' is a useful tool for learning about the behavioural characteristics of different CFs. During the seminar individuals talk about themselves with others of the same CF and there is an exchange.
Those attending must know their CF and be willing to talk about the way their life is influenced by it.
The process we will use
Representatives of the different CFs will join together in groups. They will present their own stories and descriptions so that participants hear the self-observations, basic conflicts, mental preoccupations and strengths and weaknesses of each CF. We will record the discussions. The words, phrases, beliefs and values expressed may be used in print (not on audio tape) solely for the purpose of elucidating the nature of the particular CF – with absolutely no personal references. Angela and John Hicks will be organising the day and will take part as participants, joining the relevant CF groups.
Those attending this seminar must know their CF, preferably confirmed by treatment, and be willing to talk about various areas of their life which are influenced by their type. Sensitivity and respect for differences is essential. Participants must also be clear that any personal content of the day is absolutely confidential.
If you have any questions about the seminar, please ring Angela or John at the College on 0118 950 8880.
