Event description

There is more to it than Taichong Liv 3! Find out more with Julian Scott at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading.

The eye is a microcosm where qi, blood and body fluids meet, where the shen shows, where poor vision can be analysed in terms of the eight principles and where the Five Elements show.

This seminar will be oriented towards clinical practice and Julian will discuss conditions such as conjunctivitis, glaucoma, cross-eyed, corneal lesions and macular degeneration as well as demonstrate needle techniques.

He will show how acupuncture can be of benefit in conditions which are labelled incurable in orthodox medicine. Sometimes very simple methods to bring qi to the eyes can save a person from going blind, whilst at other times a mixture of orthodox medicine and acupuncture based on constitutional imbalances is needed.

Julian Scott has been in practice for 35 years. His main interest is in treating children, but he has always had had a special interest in eye conditions. He is the author of Acupuncture for the Eyes (Eastland Press) and, with Teresa Barlow, Acupuncture in the Treatment of Children. He has a practice in Bath.
