Event description

A one-day seminar focussing on aspects of the Fire Element with Sandra Hill at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading.

The term Minister Fire is used to describe the functions of the san jiao (triple heater), xin zhu (master-heart) and xin bao luo (pericardium). They are linked to ming men (the gate of life) and tan zhong (the sea of qi in the chest) – the centres of life-force, fertility and creativity. During this seminar we will explore these vital aspects of the Fire Element, looking at the classical texts and discussing their use in modern practice.

Sandra Hill studied oriental medicine and martial arts in Japan before training in the UK at ICOM. She has worked for over 20 years with Claude Larre and Elisabeth Rochat de la Vallée, and co-founded Monkey Press to publish their work on the Chinese medical classics. She is the co-author of A Guide to Acupuncture, and author of Reclaiming the Wisdom of the Body and Oriental Paths to Health.
