Event description
Learn how to feel, balance, smooth and strengthen the internal pulsation of qi in your joints and cavities and in other people’s with Daoist Lineage Master Bruce Frantzis at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading.
The whole universe is pulsating with qi or energy and so is the human body. Practitioners of both western and eastern traditions agree that the spine, joints, organs, blood and indeed all the internal systems of the body pulsate in a natural rhythm. When the body is healthy this pulsing is even and strong. When the body becomes ill this pulsing deteriorates and our bodies and wellbeing are compromised.
Daoist meditators in China discovered methods for tapping into this pulsation so that it can be felt inside our bodies. They also developed methods for reinforcing this pulsation for purposes such as improving our health.
In this one-day workshop Daoist Lineage Master Bruce Frantzis will teach us how to feel and develop the internal pulsation of qi in our joints and cavities, giving us access to the pulsing of the entire body. He will teach us how to feel, balance, smooth and strengthen this pulsation. This is carried out in a relaxed way without using muscular strength.
This relaxed pulsing can help us to:
• have better awareness of our energy
• develop better qi and blood circulation
• smooth and release physical, mental and emotional blockages in our bodies
• increase qi flow throughout the body
• feel subtle movements and release tensions in our bodies
• increase the power of our needle technique
• deeply relax and reduce the effects of stress.
First we will learn how to do these pulsing practices in our own bodies. Having gained this skill, the practices can be extended to working with others’ bodies. There are many more subtleties involved in applying these techniques to others. Bruce teaches such techniques in his qi gong tui na workshops.
This workshop will be useful for all those who wish to experience qi, including all body workers and healthcare workers – such as acupuncturists, qi gong practitioners and craniosacral therapists.
Bruce Frantzis, a Lineage Master in the Daoist arts, has forty years experience in qi gong, healing practices, meditation and the martial arts. Fluent in both Chinese and Japanese he has drawn on seventeen years of intensive study in Asia to develop a systematic approach to teaching Daoist energy arts. Bruce now teaches in various parts of the US and Europe. He has written five books each stressing different aspects of Daoist Water Method practices. They are: Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body, The Power of Internal Martial Arts, Relaxing Into Your Being, The Great Stillness and The Big Book of Tai Chi: Build Health Fast in Slow Motion. In addition to his writing and teaching schedule, Bruce has served as consultant to Harvard University’s Chi Research Group.
