Event description
Explore how to protect your energy during and after treatment, with Michael Pringle at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading.
-
Have you ever felt great while treating and then flat after, or even find yourself only really alive when treating?
-
Do you take on other people's stuff?
-
Do some patients leave you feeling odd?
-
Do you get some days when you have no more to give?
All of these are normal, but unnecessary reactions, to your energy being ‘open’. In this workshop we will explore what it means to be ‘open’ energetically, the good parts and the why it can be draining. Why it matters how you relate energetically to your patients, and how to understand what is happening from a simple energy model. This will give you the ability to learn from these unwanted reactions and turn the situation around.
Some of the key concepts we will explore are the relationship between vulnerability and sensitivity; the balance between the energetic interaction been progressive and collusive; and what all this means for you as the practitioner and for the healing of your patient.
We will then do exercises to connect this knowledge into our body sense. We will look at protection, cleansing and the role of intention in the behaviour of the qi.
This workshop is primarily for new practitioners with about a year of experience or anyone who is aware of problems in these areas. For some more experienced practitioners it will be an opportunity to review whether you use coping mechanisms, or really use your energy for the best.
Michael Pringle has been in practice since 1982. He developed this workshop after working with healers, body workers and qi gong practitioners. He has taught these concepts to practitioners, social and drug workers, probation officers, insurance claims clerks and teachers.
