Our highly-acclaimed acupuncture courses have been in existence since 1993. Graduates receive thorough acupuncture training which leads to a BSc (Hons) Acupuncture degree validated by Kingston University as well as their Licentiate in Acupuncture (Lic Ac). The College was reaccredited in 2009 by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board for a period of 6 years. This is the professional qualification which grants the right for the student to apply for membership of the British Acupuncture Council.
Before embarking on any form of acupuncture training two key questions to ask are:
• Who is going to teach me?
It is essential that a student is being taught by teachers who have extensive clinical experience in their own practices. At CICM several of the senior members of the teaching staff have been in practice for over thirty years and a good deal more have been in practice for over twenty years. This depth of experience in the teaching staff is not easily found and is of enormous benefit to the students.
• What style of acupuncture training will I be receiving?
TCM is the main style of acupuncture that is practiced worldwide and is essential if the student wishes to supplement their acupuncture training with Chinese herbal medicine. It provides a comprehensive approach to treating a wide range of physical and psychological problems. Five Element acupuncture’s great strength is its emphasis on diagnosing and treating a person’s constitutional imbalance and enhancing patients’ feelings of well-being, both physically and psychologically. The combination of these two subtly different styles during the College’s acupuncture courses means that graduates feel both confident and competent to treat a very wid range of patients and conditions.
Please contact us for further information on any aspect of the acupuncture courses or training we offer. You are also warmly invited to come to one of our introductory sessions where you can put questions to staff and students, look round our buildings and hear more about what the acupuncture training entails.
We now also offer a one-year postgraduate tui na diploma. Tui na is a traditional Chinese massage technique which students can practice either alongside their acupuncture practice or as a separate treatment.
